Mission Briefing – Friday, January 26, 2018

This Friday, January the 26th, we will be having our second day of battles as a club. The game of the day shall be Bolt Action. As the club is relatively inexperienced in Bolt Action, we have scheduled two simple scenarios from the core rules to play out. The scenarios are as follows:

SCENARIO 1: NO MAN’S LAND

After days of fighting, both forces have ground to a halt near a vital, village crossroads. With the front lines badly in need of supplies, Orders are handed down to immediately breakthrough the enemy position and secure the village. On January the 26th, Under cover of night, both forces silently advance on the village, at dawn, the first shots are fired and the offensive begins.

Deployment:  Both forces are fighting at comparable strength, to this end, 1,000 Requisition Points have been issued to either force, and both forces shall be built as standard Reinforced Platoons for this game. Additionally, each force may deploy up to half of its total units (rounded down) as Reserve units at the start of the game. Forces may be deployed up to within 12″ of the table middle line, and may make use of the hidden set-up special rules.

Objective: Both sides must attempt to destroy as many enemy units as possible whilst protecting its own. Players shall receive 1 Victory Point for each enemy unit that has been destroyed by the end of the game. If  one side scores at least 2 more Victory Points than the other then that side has achieved victory. Otherwise, the game ends in a draw without having sufficient success to push the enemy from their positions. At the end of turn 6, a die shall be rolled, On a result of 1, 2 or 3 the game has ended, on a result of 4, 5 or 6, the game shall conclude at the end of next turn.

!!! Preparatory Bombardment !!!

As per the preparatory bombardment special rules, at the beginning of the game, both players will roll a die: on a 2+ result, a preparatory bombardment strikes the enemy positions at the start of the scenario. A roll of 1 results in a lack of artillery support for your forces.

!!! First Turn !!!

The battle begins just before dawn, As a result, visibility is limited to 24″ for the first turn of the game.
